Process

What working with me actually looks like.

No black box. No mystery invoice. No waiting three weeks for a slide deck that could have been an email.

01

Initial conversation

A 30-minute call — free, no commitment. You tell me what you're working on, I tell you whether I can help and roughly how. No pitch deck, no discovery questionnaire to fill in beforehand. If it's not the right fit, I'll say so and point you somewhere better.

02

Scoping

If we're moving forward, I'll put together a scope: what I'll do, what I need from you, what you'll get, and what it'll cost. For project work this is a fixed document. For ongoing retainer arrangements, we agree on hours and a working structure. No surprises on the invoice.

03

Onboarding

Lightweight and fast. I'll need access to Search Console, Analytics, and any crawl data you already have. A short kick-off call to align on priorities, communication preferences, and any internal context I need to do the work properly. Usually 30 minutes — no lengthy workshop.

04

The work

Depends on the engagement. Technical work tends to follow: audit → brief → dev handoff → QA → ship. Strategy work tends to follow: discovery → analysis → recommendations → roadmap. In both cases, everything is documented clearly. Nothing important lives only in my head.

05

Communication

I won't disappear for three weeks and reappear with a 60-slide deck. You'll know what I'm doing and why as the work progresses. If priorities shift or something unexpected comes up, we talk about it early — not in the final presentation.

06

Handoff or ongoing

Project work ends with a clean handoff: everything documented, all recommendations clearly evidenced, nothing locked in my head that doesn't also exist somewhere your team can access. If we continue beyond the initial scope, we revisit priorities and adapt accordingly.

A few things worth knowing

  • I work independently — you get me, not a junior account manager relaying messages.
  • I'm based in Manchester but work remotely across the UK and internationally.
  • I'm selective about what I take on. If I don't think I can add genuine value, I'll be honest about it.
  • For white label agency work, the process looks the same — just with your agency as the point of contact rather than the end client.

Ready to talk?

Tell me what you're working on. A quick initial call costs nothing and there's no obligation to go further.
